Now I've heard of some people traveling to get married. There's M's brother and a batch mate of my sister. For those 2 marriages I think they went to Canada and Netherlands. Now I'm all for having a nice foreign wedding however Canada and Netherlands are not really places I'd go to. No offence to the people living there, but they don't seem to have enough tourist attractions for me. And I don't like having to freeze my ass off during a wedding. So having California on the list is a big yey for me. But of course my reason for being happy about this is superficial at most and could not compare to the joy felt by those who will truly benefit from it.
I, for one, have never really understood the need to ban this. Marriage is about love and promotes monogamy. Shouldn't monogamous gay people make the conservatives happy? And if it's about how such a marriage will not be good for kids, I really don't see it as being a vastly different situation where kids where raised by a family with just their mother, grandmother and aunts or the male version of that combination.
The only pimple on this story is the upcoming opposition action against this. But I don't want to think about that right now. I am going to savor this social equality victory until such a time that I can't anymore. But hopefully that will be a long time from now or never.
A happy dance is in order!
